With less then a week until Trump’s inauguration, ABC’s Black-ish confronted the reality facing many Americans post election during its mid-season premiere (see video above). This isn’t the first time the award-winning show has tackled politics and current issues, but it’s now being labeled as one of the show’s most thought provoking moments.
In an emotional speech days after the election results Dre (actor Anothy Anderson) goes full force speaking to his co-workers. “You don’t think I care about this country?” Dre told co-workers. “I love this country, even though at times it doesn’t love me back. For my whole life, my parents, my grandparents, me, for most black people, this system has never worked for us. But we still played ball. Tried to do my best to live by the rules, even though we knew they would never work out in our favor.”

How is ABC Television allowed to have a show entitled “Blackish”? Can you imagine the furor of a show, “Whiteish”! Racism at highest level?

#blackish isn’t a normal television show. This episode pretty much summed up where we are as a country in the span of 30 minutes.
